It has become decision time in New Orleans. The Saints have their quarterback. It is Derek Carr, and he will start next year and potentially beyond. Accordingly, any other QB on the roster is fighting to be the backup to the veteran starter.

Jameis Winston is a player that has been with New Orleans for multiple years as their backup. Now, with a new offensive staff and no chance at the starting job, Jameis may be looking to go elsewhere.

Winston wants to be a starting QB in the NFL once again. He understands that that is not a clear possibility with the Saints right now.

"However, my goal is to be, and my desire is to be, a Super Bowl-winning starting quarterback in this league. Right now, that doesn't look like a very clear picture with the New Orleans Saints." — Winston via SI

Seemingly, Winston has made up his mind. He will exit New Orleans as long as he can find a landing spot that gives him a better chance at starting. It makes plenty of sense, too. He's 30 years old.

There's still plenty left tin the tank, but he also needs a chance to prove he can be an NFL starter in today's league. He won't get that for now with the Saints. Now, there's a possibility that he will not get a better job than his backup spot with New Orleans, but that is impossible to project at the moment.

Plenty of teams will be looking for legit QB competition or a starter by the time free agency begins.

It's clear that Winston has appreciated his time in New Orleans. He's been a dynamic leader and fantastic teammate.

Anyone you ask in the organization – would tell you how much of an effect Jameis has had on his teammates over the years. There's no doubt that he has an impact regardless of his play/opportunity on the field.

"Well, what next with me is wherever God, and whatever he has in his will for me. I'm going to do my best to dominate the opportunity. It's such a love for the city. I just admire the individuals. And I admire the culture and the integrity that this city possesses." — Winston told Saints News Network.

No matter what – Winston will be remembered for his time in New Orleans by the fan base. The odds are low that a team will give their QB keys solely to Winston, but we'll see what happens during the offseason. He's confident in his abilities.
