The New Orleans Saints got a bit of a scare on Tuesday.
Their top wide receiver, rookie Chris Olave, got a "Did Not Participate" designation for a simulated practice.
The Saints did not actually hold practice today, but if they did, Olave would have sat out.
They list Olave with a hamstring injury.
His status is certainly worth monitoring over the next couple of days. The Saints face the Cleveland Browns on Saturday.
If Olave cannot go, expect more targets for Rashid Shaheed, Jarvis Landry, and Juwan Johnson. Marquez Callaway would probably get a nod to be active as well.
The Saints need Olave to play, though.
The Browns' secondary has plenty of talent, and he is their best overall threat at wide receiver. His speed and athleticism cannot be understated. Olave stretches the field for Andy Dalton and provides plenty of cushion for intermediate throws.
That being said, the Saints cannot rush him back and risk further injury that would affect him in the long-term.
Just keep an eye on his practice statuses over the next couple of says before the Saints play this weekend.
