The New Orleans Saints will certainly be in the quarterback market during this off-season.
They've already had meetings with Derek Carr. There are some other free agent options that are veteran free agents.
Additionally, the NFL Draft always provides the mystery and upside of a young QB. For the Saints, it will be difficult for them to find their new starter at the end of the first round.
One scenario could arise for New Orleans, though.
The Saints may choose to sign a veteran starting QB and draft a mid-round QB in the draft that they prefer. One of their latest draft prospect visits shows that they have interest in a former SEC quarterback.
The Saints recently met with former Tennessee Vols QB Hendon Hooker.
Hooker dazzled for the Vols over the last two seasons of his college career. His dual threat ability provides interesting upside for a QB that may not go until the third or fourth round of this year's draft.
He is an older prospect, unfortunately, though. Hooker will be 25 when he is drafted later this year.
His processing skills still have quite a ways to go, and that's tough since he is already in his mid 20's. That being said, his deep ball improved heavily during his time in Knoxville.
The Saints may have interest in his leadership and potential going forward.
They'll have some competition for him, undoubtedly. The NFC South rival Carolina Panthers have already met with him, along with a handful of other squads.
His name is one to watch for the Saints over the next couple of months, regardless.
