The New Orleans Saints have had a busy Tuesday for roster transactions. Their latest move is one that fans have asked for for quite some time.
The Saints have released veteran wide receiver Tre'Quan Smith from injured reserve.
Smith has spent the last five seasons with New Orleans. He was most known for his run-blocking ability for the offense. He missed extended time due to injuries in four of his five seasons with the organization.
Since 2018, Smith totaled 131 receptions for 1,764 receiving yards for the Saints. He was the only player left from the Saints' 2018 draft class. Clearly, it wasn't a good one.
For New Orleans, it won't change their offense at all. He hadn't played at all this season due to injury. In case of injuries to other receivers, players like A.T. Perry or Shaq Davis could see an opportunity now.
The veteran will look for a new opportunity elsewhere.
