The first unofficial depth chart has arrive for this year's New Orleans Saints.
Of course, take it with a grain of salt. It is still early on in training camp, and more injuries and changes are sure to come over the next month. That being said, there are some notable parts of the team's first roster layout.
There are four major takeaways from this initial depth chart provided by the Saints. First, Andrus Peat and James Hurst seem very tight in a position battle for a guard spot in New Orleans. They have the 'or' between them, so either of them could get the starting role going forward.
The same goes for the CB2 battle between Paulson Adebo and Alontae Taylor. I would expect Taylor to win that by season's start, but anything could happen. Both have had flashes at practices so far.
First-round pick Bryan Bresee is behind free-agent add Nathan Shepherd on the inside right now. It'll be interesting to see who gets the starting nod there by Week 1. Bresee may have more upside, but Shepherd has the experience that the rookie lacks.
Finally, Juwan Johnson and Taysom have the 'or' between them as well for TE1. Both players have unique roles, so that could just mean that they will both play a lot of snaps and do different things. That's the expectation – at least.
The Saints don't have too many shockers on the first depth chart, but there are plenty of storylines to keep an eye on over the next month.
