The New Orleans Saints have a plan for their first preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, according to an insider. From a roster standpoint, they've signaled a green light to get some notable reps in against Arizona.

All healthy Saints players will play against Cardinals

This most likely rules out a handful of players too, including Kendre Miller and Juwan Johnson.

That being said, we will probably see most of the Saints starters. Knock on wood – they've avoided injuries to key players. Most of their starting units should see the field because they have stayed healthy. We will probably see one or two drives from the starting offense, and that should be an intriguing look.

Don't expect to see much else from the first-stringers, though.

I'd be surprised if any notable players play past the first quarter. Veterans who have been banged up during camp, like Demario Davis and Rashid Shaheed, may sit out the exhibition match as well.

The most injured position for New Orleans is wide receiver.

Dennis Allen said earlier in the week that six wideouts will have to do for the Saints on Saturday. Don't expect more than that to play. Some guys will absolutely have extended looks at that spot.

Also, watch the kicking game closely. The kicker competition is heating up between Blake Grupe and Charlie Smyth. The preseason may decide who gets the job.
