The New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles were a part of one of the scariest moments of the 2024 NFL season so far.

Devonta Smith suffers scary injury against Saints

Smith was fighting for yardage after a reception, but he was pushed back into a tough position and hit up high by Saints DL Khristian Boyd. The contact around his head came from Boyd's shoulder, not directly helmet to helmet.

It did not seem malicious from the rookie.

Former Saints DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson thought it was an extremely dirty play, though. He's full of opinions directed towards his former team.

The rookie defensive lineman that delivered the hit made sure to send some love towards the Eagles wideout. He wished him well via social media. Check out his post below.

"I would never deliberately try to give someone a serious injury. Just tried to make a play on the ball

Get well 6" — Boyd via Instagram

We will see if any fine from the NFL comes to Boyd this week, regardless of his intent. Boyd did not get penalized during the game for the hit on Smith.
