New Orleans Saints quarterback Jake Haener is making a change. The rookie has a new jersey number, and it is a familiar one.
Haener will dawn number three, the number of Saints' former kicker Wil Lutz.
The rookie QB will have some big shoes to fill following Lutz with his number. Of course, Haener probably won't get much action in the regular season, but the Saints like him in the long-term.
The move to trade Lutz wasn't an easy one. The Saints believe in Blake Grupe, though. He is a rookie with a high ceiling, and he saves New Orleans some money as well.
For Haener, the number aspect is just aesthetic, but the change to '3' is a good one. It's a better-looking QB number than the '14' that he had previously.
Lutz spent over half a decade as the kicker for New Orleans. Saints fans remember him fondly.
