The New Orleans Saints had plenty of pre-draft meetings with quarterbacks. They were never going to invest in one early with Derek Carr in the building, but a day three selection made sense. That just came to fruition.

The Saints just selected Fresno State QB Jake Haener in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

New Orleans traded up to secure Haener. They clearly liked him the most of any day three options in this draft class and pounced on the opportunity. The Saints traded a seventh-round pick this year as well as a fifth-round pick next year to move up for the former Bulldogs QB.

Haener was a first-team All-Mountain West selection in 2022. He was the MVP at the Senior Bowl as well.
