The New Orleans Saints have just one unrestricted free agent at wide receiver. That would be veteran WR Keith Kirkwood. He's had two different stints in New Orleans during his career.

The other free agent WR for the Saints is Rashid Shaheed. As an exclusive restricted free agent, he will be back for New Orleans next season. The two sides will work out a deal to make sure he's back for at least another season. Shaheed is an important player for the Saints offense.

For Kirkwood, he totaled just five catches for 37 yards and one touchdown last season.

Should the Saints bring Kirkwood back as a depth option at wide receiver?

My opinion: No, let him walk in free agency.

New Orleans has other options on the roster to provide some depth. Guys like A.T. Perry and Lynn Bowden will be back. Chris Olave and Shaheed will headline the group.

Not to mention, the Saints have a plethora of draft capital where they could add multiple capable players at WR.

Kirkwood's best trait was his run blocking, but other players can provide that. Plus, in Klint Kubiak's system, he may want some new blood in the building at the position. The type of wideouts that he will target will probably be different than players on past Saints depth charts.

Free agents that the Saints should show interest in at wide receiver are Laviska Shenault, Jauan Jennings, Sterling Shepard, and Donovan Peoples-Jones.
