Saints shouldn't make the mistake of targeting secondary players in free agency

The New Orleans Saints have some pretty big needs this offseason, to say the least. They were so close to making the playoffs, even with the bad record.
If they make a few more plays in some close games, they win two more games and get in as the winner of the NFC South.
But, that's what the NFL season is for the teams that don't make it – a game of what-ifs.
They can approach the offseason needs in two ways. They could grab some guys to help out in free agency, or they could wait until the draft.
If they were to try out free agency, their biggest need, in my subjective opinion, of course, is the secondary depth and overall cornerback play.
The Saints drafted Alonte Taylor this last offseason from Tennessee, and his future as a cornerback looks to be pretty bright.
But, they still need help at the cornerback spots. The safety positions are fine for the most part, besides some depth they could add, but the real work that needs to be done could be fixed by a guy like Marcus Peters, who the Saints likely can't afford, but he would be nice in this system.
Guys like Bradley Roby, who you could bring back, James Bradberry, Jonathan Jones, or even a guy like Emmanuel Moseley would also be good for the Saints. But, then again, there isn't much you can do to get those guys.
There are some decent guys at the cornerback spot that can improve the position for the Saints. But, if you want one of the top guys, it's not going to be cheap.
The Saints have the least amount of cap space in the league, per Spotrac.com, as of a week before the Super Bowl.
They will likely have to do their search through the draft for a good cornerback. But, if they were able to free up some more cash, some of those guys would not be bad options in free agency.
