The New Orleans Saints completed another major task this offseason. There had been murmurs about a potential final contract extension for veteran rusher Cameron Jordan. The two sides got it done.
It is a two-year deal worth $27.5 million guaranteed. It ties Jordan to New Orleans through the 2025 season – which is expected to be his last. Jordan has said on many occasions that he wants to retire a Saint, and this deal confirms that occurrence down the road.
Jordan discussed a potential extension late in July, but he didn't get into details. Rather, he pushed that onto his agent and the Saints front office to figure it all out. Jordan knew that the Saints wanted to keep him around as a Saint for life. That was definitely the case.
Last season, Jordan's production slipped just a little bit, but some of that was due to the inefficiencies from the rest of the line. Defenses keyed in on Jordan when it came to the pass rush. He is still a rusher with high-end pass rush moves and great effort in the run game. Not to mention, he's a clear leader for the defense alongside Demario Davis.
Jordan will be a major piece for New Orleans as he finishes up his career with the Saints.
