The New Orleans Saints have just added depth to their secondary.

Versatile cornerback/safety Lonnie Johnson Jr. has signed a one-year deal to play for the Saints in 2023.

Johnson came into the NFL with the Houston Texans and played there for three seasons. He logged 172 tackles, three interceptions, and 13 passes defended over that span.

In 2021, Johnson played 541 snaps for the Texans and 317 came at free safety. In Weeks 12 through 15 he logged 148 snaps at cornerback.

Last season, his only with the Tennessee Titans, was a tough one for Johnson as groin and hamstring injuries limited him to just 165 snaps, 123 were at free safety.

Johnson also brings special teams value with 590 snaps in that capacity during his career.

The Saints' secondary already has Tyrann Mathieu, Marshon Lattimore, and Marcus Maye. Hopefully, for the Saints, Johnson can stay healthy and use his versatile skill set to add to that.
