Saints sign veteran player to roster
The New Orleans Saints just signed a veteran defender to their roster.
The New Orleans Saints grabbed their new quarterback yesterday. Today, they mad another addition.
This one is much more minor but interesting at least. The Saints signed defensive back Uno Amadi.
The team announced Amadi as a safety, but he has experience as both a safety and cornerback at the NFL level.
Amadi adds more experience to the secondary in New Orleans. He has started sparingly during his time in the NFL.
Amadi, 5-9, 201, was originally selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round (132nd overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Oregon. In four seasons with the Seahawks (2019-21), Tennessee Titans (2022) and Kansas City Chiefs (2022), he has played in 50 regular season games with 11 starts and has recorded 112 tackles (92 solo), one interception, 13 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, 19 coverage stops and one special teams fumble recovery. In three postseason appearances, he has posted three tackles (two solo) and one coverage stop.
That being said, he can provide some depth to the safety room that saw some injuries last season. The cornerback dealt with some bumps and bruises as well, so he could see some time there, too.
It's not a flashy move, but Amadi can play a role next season for the Saints if necessary.
