The Saints worked out four running backs on Tuesday. They decided to sign one of them.
New Orleans is signing veteran RB James Robinson to their practice squad, according to Nick Underhill.
Robinson was most recently with the Green Bay Packers. He played in just one game for them, though. He's bounced around the NFL a bit over the last calendar year.
The former undrafted free agent has spent four years in the league. He was picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars as a rookie, where he rushed for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns in his first season. That was hist best statistical year so far.
During the 2022 season, he was traded to the New York Jets. He totaled just 85 yards for the Jets in four games. Robinson joined the New England Patriots practice squad during this past offseason but never played for them. The same can be said for his recent stint with the New York Giants.
Robinson has 2,264 career rushing yards and 18 touchdowns while averaging 4.4 per carry. He's also caught 92 career passes for 615 yards and five touchdowns.
The veteran slots in behind Alvin Kamara and Jamaal Williams with Kendre Miller still on the shelf with an injury. Miller has missed the last four contests and struggled to stay on the field all season long as a rookie.
This move by the Saints could signify that Miller is not close to returning.
