Marques Valdez-Scantling inactive vs. Chargers
The recently-signed wideout has only been with the team for a few days after signing this past week. It is not shocking that they are keeping him out for this week, at least.
He needs time to get up to speed in the offense and learn the playbook.
That being said, they did elevate Equanimeous St. Brown as a wide receiver option for depth. Many folks probably hoped that MVS would take that sort of role over St. Brown. We will see if the veteran wideout has a role in Week 9 after some more time in the building for New Orleans.
Saints' inactives against Chargers
- Derek Carr (oblique)
- Marquez Valdes-Scantling
- Cedrick Wilson Jr. (hip)
- Jaylan Ford
- Nick Saldiveri (shoulder)
- Dallin Holker
- Khristian Boyd
Carr will not be the Saints' emergency third quarterback. There was some speculation that he would be this week. Instead, they will be more careful with him.
As for returning players, Pete Werner, Chris Olave, Taysom Hill and Cesar Ruiz are all active. Some of them have not played in a month, while Olave missed just one week due to a concussion.
