Even during a bye week, New Orleans Saints utility weapon Taysom Hill is garnering some deserved respect.
Hill put on one of the best individual performances of this season during the team's Week 11 win over the Cleveland Browns. Clearly, people took notice of his dominance.
Taysom wins Week 11 award
Taysom was named the NFL's NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 11.
Los Angeles Rams safety Kamren Kinchens was the NFC Defensive Player of the Week, while Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Karl Brooks was the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Hill came at the Cleveland Browns from all angles, leading the Saints to a resounding 35-14 win on Sunday. Hill had 138 yards and three touchdowns on just seven carries, averaging an eye-popping 19.7 yards per carry. He added 50 yards on eight receptions and also had an 18-yard completion. In the Saints' victory, Hill became the 1st player with three rushing touchdowns, fifty receiving yards, and one pass completion in a game since Ed Podolak in 1971 against the Lions, according to ESPN Research.
Head coach Darren Rizzi said that there was an increased focus on getting Taysom the ball more often in Week 11, and that will continue. It paid off for New Orleans, as they totaled 35 points in a convincing showing.
"Yes. When he touches the ball, it affects the game tremendously. And sometimes he doesn't even have to touch the ball, he can just affect the game by being on the field."
"We looked at tape and collectively felt that we gotta get this guy the ball – get him more involved. If you look at our wins this season, Taysom's numbers are pretty good." — Rizzi
They get a week off to recover and potentially get some players back for Week 13 against the Los Angeles Rams. Hopefully for them, Hill stays hot after the bye.
