Juwan Johnson. An emerging name for the New Orleans Saints after a breakout year last season.
Johnson isn't satisfied, though. He wants to keep improving and join the next rank of tight ends around the NFL. In 2022, Johnson totaled 42 receptions, 508 yards, and seven touchdowns. That TD was tied for third-most among all tight ends.
This season, the Saints TE wants to build on that and be 'great' for New Orleans.
"I do a lot of things good, but I know there are improvements that I can make both receiving, pass blocking and just being a leader. Those are all things and they're very tangible, and I think if I stay consistent in what I'm doing — guys gravitate to me just because of what I try to do consistently, not say one thing and talk out of the other side of my mouth. I just try to be who I am, and I think that gravitates on the field and off the field. So just keep doing that, and I think it's going to be good." Johnson via NFL.com
A massive season could be on the horizon for him, too. The Saints have an improvement at quarterback in Derek Carr. The two have created a very strong connection during this offseason as well.
The Saints QB even told his brother, David, to take Johnson in fantasy football this year. He thinks the sky is the limit for the TE.
Carr wasted no time getting to know Johnson's game, and his skillset could be really useful for the veteran QB. In a new city with a new scheme, a tight end can be a QB's best friend. Johnson would probably be that guy as the most well-rounded and physically gifted option at the position for the Saints.
Only time will tell, but Johnson is set to have another strong season for New Orleans.
