The New Orleans Saints will have a handful of needs by the time the 2023 NFL Draft rolls around.

Everyone is aware of the quarterback situation, but what other positions could they target early in the draft? Are there potential prospects that they should keep their eye on in particular?

A couple of those guys are actually national champions, and they make a lot of sense for the Saints.

Darnell Washington, Tight End, Georgia

Washington is the definition of a freak athlete.

His size/speed combo makes him a unique type of pass-catching threat on the football field. At 6'7" and 265 pounds, you would not expect player of his stature to be able to move and make plays like he does.

Washington was a highly-regarded recruit coming out of high school. His production in college may not jump off the screen, but the abilities were clear. The balance to his game may surprise some folks.

His blocking skills are polished, and his effort cannot be questioned.

Even as tall as Washington may be, his future in the NFL isn't simply as a tight end lined up out wide to only receive the football. He can get involved in the running game as a blocker, too.

The Saints could be in the market for a tight end during this off-season, especially if Juwan Johnson doesn't get re-signed. His impressive season may outprice him for the Saints.

Washington should be on their radar regardless with one of their first two picks, though.

Nolan Smith, Edge Rusher, Georgia

Nolan Smith is a really exciting defensive line prospect from a Bulldogs defense that has been ridiculously good over the past couple of seasons.

He has a solid frame that he can still add mass to in order to turn into a really impressive NFL rusher. His skills, though, are quite dynamic.

Smith was a leader for Georgia both on and off the field. His energy and motor are traits that set him apart from many players in a draft class.

His effort is relentless. No play is ever over when Smith is involved – in the best way possible.

His run defense is extremely polished as he enters the NFL. His pass rush move tree is a tad limited as of now, but his physical abilities will allow him to develop those with NFL coaching.

Smith would be great value for the Saints with either of their first two picks in this year's draft. They may need to replace Marcus Davenport if he leaves in free agency, and their depth is lacking in a massive way all along the DL.

Smith helps fix that need instantly for the Saints.

Both of these national championship-winning talents from UGA would be great fits for New Orleans.
