Ryan Ramczyk announces retirement
According to Ramczyk himself on Instagram, the veteran starting offensive tackle for the Saints has officially retired from the NFL. Ramczyk did not play last season due to a degenerative knee injury. Ramczyk was a first-round pick in 2017.
Ramczyk started all 12 games he appeared in in 2023. He was a stalwart on the right side, starting all 101 regular season games he has played in, 98 on the right side, in his seven campaigns and was named to the Associated Press All-Pro team for three consecutive years (2018-20). He joined William Roaf as only the second Saints tackle to be named AP All-Pro three times. — New Orleans Saints
What an incredible journey it’s been. My path to the NFL wasn’t a straight line, it wasn’t the story most people expect. There were moments when people doubted me, moments when I doubted myself. It’s funny how life works out. Sometimes the road less traveled leads to places you never expected, but it ends up being exactly where you were meant to be. Today I reflect on all the twists and turns that got me to this point, from technical college to become a “welder” to All-Pro in the NFL. As I step into retirement, I’m filled with gratitude for everything this sport has given me. I owe a giant thank you to the game of football, and to the countless coaches and teammates who have supported and challenged me along the way. I’m especially thankful to UW-Stevens Point for welcoming me with open arms, to UW-Madison for taking a chance on a Division III transfer, and to the New Orleans Saints for believing in me at the highest level. To the amazing New Orleans Saints fans. Thank you for embracing me from day one. Your passion and energy are unmatched, you made New Orleans feel like home. To my incredible wife, thank you for being my rock through every high and low. And to my parents, who instilled in me the meaning of hard work and dedication.I’m excited for what the future holds, especially the opportunity to spend more time with my two boys and watch them grow. I’m looking forward to this next chapter in life and am forever grateful. Who Dat for life ⚜️ — Ramczyk via IG
Ramczyk joins Terron Armstead as former Pro Bowl offensive tackles for New Orleans to retire this offseason. They both protected Drew Brees for multiple seasons at a very high level.
Both Armstead and Ramczyk became fan favorites throughout their career in New Orleans.
Ramczyk will be in Green Bay for the 2025 NFL draft. He is set to announce the Saints' day two draft picks. As of now, New Orleans holds three picks between rounds two and three.
The former Pro Bowler has been expected to retire after taking last season off due to injury.
Ramczyk has lost a lot of weight over the past year, and according to Over The Cap's Jason Fitzgerald, Ramczyk agreed to waive his $18 million base salary for next season and reduced it to the league minimum. That move saved the Saints a little more than $16.7 million against the salary cap.
New Orleans Saints take huge risk and it backfires in latest 2-round 2025 NFL mock draft for Kellen Moore’s offense
The 2025 NFL Draft is just a week away. The New Orleans are still getting their plan together, following the news that Derek Carr may not be their starting QB next season. In the most recent A to Z Sports mock draft that spanned two rounds, the Saints did not take a QB early, but […]
