The New Orleans Saints have had an ongoing position battle in the past handful of weeks. As the season approaches, the chopping block gets more aggressive. Today, the Saints made another move at WR.

New Orleans waived veteran WR Bryan Edwards after a tough preseason game vs. the Los Angeles Chargers this past Sunday. Edwards had a drop in the end zone and two penalties in the game. All in all, players like A.T. Perry, Lynn Bowden, Shaq Davis, and others outshined him during his time with the Saints.

Edwards joins James Washington as veteran options to be let go over the past week by the Saints. Both struggled in their opportunities, and other, younger options provide more versatility/upside for New Orleans.

Ten wide receivers remain on the depth chart for New Orleans. At most, seven will make the 53-man roster.

Regardless, this move is a plus for all of the guys remaining at the position. They have taken another step forward towards grabbing a roster spot for Week 1.
