Saints' Week 15 win shouldn't alleviate any of the pressure on Dennis Allen
At 7-7, the New Orleans Saints would not have a chance any a division title in most instances. The NFC South is different, though. At 7-7, the New Orleans Saints would not have a chance any a division title in most instances. The NFC South is different, though. They're currently tied for first in the division with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Saints have some momentum after two wins. Dennis Allen's stock has not moved much, but a playoff berth could change the front office's mind in terms of his future as the team's HC. Only time will tell.
Regardless, the heat is still on for Allen. He's 21-45 as a head coach in the NFL. The Saints have been a disappointment, overall, in 2023.
A couple of wins against the Carolina Panthers and New York Giants should not change that, and they don't change the over-arching facts of Allen's career as a HC.
His struggles have stemmed from multiple teams, and his decision-making has been questionable during games, to say the least. Not to mention, he chose to keep Pete Carmichael Jr. as his offensive coordinator, and that decision has had its bumps.
The only way that the Saints can guarantee themselves a playoff spot
The New Orleans Saints have arrived back at .500 at 7-7. Their 24-6 Week 15 victory over the New York Giants was a clean one, and there's some confidence building. That being said, there's only one way that New Orleans can guarantee themselves a playoff spot. The Saint must win out (go 3-0) to finish […]
The recent winning streak may actually put more pressure on Allen. Now, the Saints are firmly in the playoff race, and two wins will give them a very good chance at a postseason berth. If they cannot find a way to do that, the fallout may be massive.
Eyes are one he and New Orleans because the NFC has seen its fair share of struggles in recent weeks. The Philadelphia Eagles just fell to the Seattle Seahawks, and the Dallas Cowboys were just embarrassed by the Buffalo Bills. Th conference can be wide open.
Additionally, Allen has, again and again, placed his confidence in his staff and his QB, Derek Carr. Carr's played better football in recent weeks, but that must continue. If he struggles, Allen's seat will only get hotter.
No matter what – the Saints will have to look themselves in the mirror at season's end to see if Allen is the answer at HC. Most signs say a convincing 'no' to that right now.
He's got an uphill climb, and the most important tasks are still ahead of him for this season.
