The Drew Brees experience in the broadcasting booth was short-lived. His one-game performance had its flaws, but a legendary sports broadcaster thinks he got the short end of the stick from NBC. He announced a Cincinnati Bengals playoff game with Mike Tirico in his first chance after retiring.

He hasn't been in the booth for another NFL game since.

Joe Buck had some strong words regarding Brees' short time as a broadcaster so far.

Buck defended Brees in an interview on the Sports Media with Richard Deitsch's podcast.

"I think Jason Witten got a bad shake. I think Drew Brees got a raw deal. And if there's anybody who was ever created in a computer to be a top analyst at a network, I think it's Drew Brees, and I would love to see him get another chance at that.

He got one game, and he was working with a new crew and a new play-by-play guy, and everybody expected brilliance. You make one comment, and it gets its own life on social media. It's just ridiculous."Joe Buck

Clearly, Buck wants Brees to get another chance.

It makes sense. He is one of the most cerebral quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL. He knows the game like the back of his hand, and he's always been a positive personality around the game of football.

Not to mention, other former players like Greg Olsen and Tony Romo have gotten seasons to prove themselves as commentating personalities. They are talented, no doubt, but Brees got a singular game

It's an embarrassing look from NBC – in all seriousness.

Another legendary QB could face immense pressure in the booth soon, too, according to Deistch. He believes that Fox Sports may place tons of pressure on Tom Brady as he begins his work in the broadcast booth in 2024.

Regardless, it's clear that Brees deserves another chance to call games at the college or NFL level if he chooses to pursue that.
