The New Orleans Saints are focused on next week's NFL Draft. That being said, it is a long off-season in the NFL. After the draft or even during the process, deals are made.

The Saints could potentially get active in the trade market, including picks and/or players. We all know they have an affinity for trading up in the draft. It's always on the table.

Could they also be intrigued by trading for a veteran star wide receiver at some point during this off-season?

The Arizona Cardinals are in a tough situation with DeAndre Hopkins.

The former Pro Bowl WR wants to be traded, and it may make sense for the team. Their roster is sub-par, and rebuilding is inevitable for Arizona at the moment. Shipping off Hopkins could save them money in the long run and provide them with more assets.

Bleacher Report mentioned the Saints as a potential candidate to make a deal for D-Hop. The argument makes plenty of sense. Michael Thomas has struggled with injuries over the last few seasons, and Hopkins adds another top-flight weapon for quarterback Derek Carr.

Though the Saints signed running back Jamaal Williams, they may rely on their passing game with Carr under center. Hopkins, who finished 10th in receiving yards per game (79.7) this past season, would significantly upgrade New Orleans’ aerial attack and potentially elevate the Saints in a wide-open NFC South division.

In return for Hopkins, the Cardinals would receive a third-round pick and Roby, who could patch up Arizona’s secondary. This past season, he allowed a 54 percent completion rate and a 79.4 passer rating in coverage. Remember, Arizona didn’t re-sign cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. in free agency. Safety Budda Baker has requested a trade or wants a new contract, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The proposal by Bleacher Report makes sense for both sides. The Cardinals receive a third-rounder and a veteran CB, and the Saints get back an immediate impact WR. The Saints have enough cap room to make a deal like this one work, so it could come to fruition if they have interest.
