The New Orleans Saints sit at 2-5 after their loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday. Luckily, the rest of the NFC South is also a mess.

Even at that lackluster record, the Saints are just one game out of a tie for first place in the division record-wise.

Why is that?

It is because the Atlanta Falcons fell to the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Carolina Panthers throttled the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Panthers were in last, and the Bucs were in first before today's matchup.

Unfortunately, that also means that the Saints are in last place in the NFC South right now.

The division is about as tight as it can get. No team is out of contention for it, and no team looks dominant in any way.

No NFC South squad is above .500 at the moment.

The Saints have massive flaws between turnovers and penalties.

The Bucs' offense has been stuck in the mud for most of the season. The Falcons are very thin, and they lack talent on defense. The Panthers don't have a clear starting quarterback, and they just traded Christian McCaffrey.

Every team in the division has a clear downfall – or multiple.

The Saints need to bounce back over the next few weeks. Due to their division's struggles, they can still win it to secure a playoff spot.
