The New Orleans Saints have plenty of difficult decisions to  make early this week. They will cut down their roster by Tuesday afternoon. Further than that, the depth chart sits in flux.

On the offensive line, there is really only one question when it comes to the starters. One of the guard spots will go to James Hurst or Andrus Peat. Peat is a former Pro Bowl OL that has struggled with multiple injuries.

Hurst has limited upside in the long-term, but he is consistent to an extent. He was a good player for the Saints last season, and he is a safer option than Peat.

Hurst isn't a big name. Some fans may not even know him. That being said, his pass protection is noticeably better than Peat's right now.

Peat struggled at times during the preseason, and he just is not the player that he showed seasons ago. Regardless of his past accomplishments, the inconsistencies should cost him his starting role for the Saints.

In front of new QB Derek Carr, New Orleans just needs a base-line level of talent. There are other major proven talents on the OL, like Erik McCoy and Ryan Ramczyk. Hurst makes the most sense for this season to start off strong for the Saints.
