The New Orleans Saints' depth chart will need a boost when it comes to the 2025 NFL Draft. Nearly every position makes sense for them in round one as of now in mock drafts.

Daniel Jeremiah recently released his latest 2025 NFL mock draft. Along with plenty of other surprising picks, New Orleans selected a prospect that normally does not land there in mocks.

Saints pick explosive pass rusher in Daniel Jeremiah's mock draft

9. New Orleans Saints: Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall

The Saints ranked third-to-last in yards allowed last season, so they have to improve on that side of the ball. New head coach Kellen Moore saw the impact a dominant pass rush can have on a squad during his time with the Eagles. New Orleans selects Green, a very polished and productive rusher.

Pass rusher will be a massive need for the Saints this offseason – plain and simple.

If they lose Chase Young in free agency, which I imagine they will, that need will grow even further. The future of Cameron Jordan in New Orleans is unknown, although he is under contract for next season.

Green brings a speed/power blend that you do not often see from an edge rusher that doesn't go in the top five or so picks. He dominated at Senior Bowl practice and even went viral for a rep against Oregon's Josh Conerly Jr. during that week.

That being said, his game does need some refinement, and it remains to be seen how he translates with a major step up in competition, entering the pros.

The questions about his competition level are going to be a constant conversation over the months leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, and it's understandable. However, when talented players play at a smaller school, you want to see them dominate, and that's exactly what he did.

Green has risen up draft boards for months and landing in the top ten really is not quite a shock at this point. For New Orleans, it is a big swing on his potential, but it does make plenty of sense considering their defensive roster.
