The New Orleans Saints continue to look through options to add to their offense. Pass catchers have been a spot where they could look to add more competition and/or depth. A notable tight end is available, and the Saints are showing some interest in him.

UFL star TE Sal Cannella will work out for the Saints

Cannella is 27, years old. He is listed at 6-foot-5 and 242 pounds. That is a big-body option that could make a difference for the Saints offense.

Cannella led the UFL in touchdown catches (6) earlier this year.

Juwan Johnson was inconsistent in 2023. Taysom Hill is a unique asset that doesn't fit the prototypical TE role. Foster Moreau was underutilized last season but could make a greater impact in 2024.

Dallin Holker is an intriguing UDFA signing, but he's got to prove himself plenty if he is going to make the active roster. Cannella would step in to create even more competition at an important position for Klint Kubiak's offense.

Cannella moves very well for a player of his size. He's a great athlete that could get a chance in the NFL after dominating in the UFL and XFL.

Cannella focused on basketball in high school, but after picking up the tight end position at Scottsdale Community College in Arizona he transferred to Auburn. He was not drafted in 2020 after turning pro, but after a couple of tryouts and some experience in The Spring League he signed with the Miami Dolphins.

Cannella spent time with the Green Bay Packers during the 2022 offseason.

We will see if Cannella's workout turns into a signing. Only time will tell. Keep his name in the back of your mind, Saints fans.
