The New Orleans Saints have a new starting quarterback. Derek Carr slots in as a proven starter in the NFL and provides upside that the Saints haven't seen in recent seasons at the position. Most folks would consider him to be in the Kirk Cousins/Dak Prescott tier of QBs in the league.

Madden apparently disagrees with that sentiment, though. Prescott and Cousins are both top nine QBs in their newest ratings. Carr sits in the middle of the league at just a 78 overall rating.

It's some disrespect for the new Saints QB. Carr has been one of the better deep ball throwers in recent years, and he hasn't showed much decline with age. Injuries have been an increasing concern, but overall, he deserves to be rated higher.

An overall rating around 81-83 would make a lot more sense for the veteran QB. He isn't the most athletic option, but his arm talent should make up for some of those lapses when it comes to a video game.
