The New Orleans Saints sit at 7-8 after an awfully tough Thursday night game. The Los Angeles Rams dominated them for three quarters. Now, New Orleans must win out and hope that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lose in Week 18 to make the playoffs.
Accordingly, that scenario is unlikely. According to ESPN Analytics, the Saints' chance to make the playoffs dropped to 24% after their loss. After the rest of Week 16's play, New Orleans' chance to make the postseason dropped to 11%.
The 2024 NFL Draft will soon be the main focus of the Saints and their fans – in all likelihood.
Before Week 17 starts, where are the Saints projected to pick in the first round of next year's draft?
As of now, New Orleans holds the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Their biggest needs right now are offensive tackle, defensive line, and quarterback.
That being said, they need major help in the trenches. Against good teams, they are getting dominated upfront on both sides of the football. The takes th job of everyone else nearly impossible.
As for QB, Derek Carr will be their starter next season due to his contract. That does not mean that they could not make a play for quarterback in round one, but it is somewhat unlikely since they do not pick in the top five.
