The New Orleans Saints have an embarrassment of riches at one position on their defense. The Saints' defense, as a whole, has seen a lot of inconsistency this season. That being said, the linebacker position hasn't wavered whatsoever all season long.
Even after losing one of the best young linebackers in the NFL in Pete Werner for multiple weeks, Demario Davis and Kaden Ellis continue to be two of the best players at their positions.
The "next man up" mentality has been strong for the Saints' linebackers.
Pro Football Focus ranks the Davis and Ellis as top ten LBs in the NFL.

Even with the team's struggles, the defense has been ignited by the Saints' linebackers. They bring energy to the team. Both Elliss and Davis make massive, meaningful plays in both the run and passing game.
It's clear how much the veterans and coaching staff have developed Elliss, too. The linebacker has grown quickly. He's filled in beautifully while Pete Werner has been injured.
Now, with Werner returning soon, the Saints will need to find unique ways to get both Werner and Ellis on the field.
The latter has played far too well to go back to playing a low percentage of defensive snaps. Both bring a lot of value to the Saints' defense.
As for Davis, he hasn't slowed down even with age. He's still the leader of the New Orleans defense, and that's on display every single week. His vocal intensity and work ethic show up on film constantly.
The Saints are very lucky to have two of the best linebackers in the entire league.
