Giants lose budding star to brutal injury while he was dominating against the Eagles in Week 8
New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo left the game after a brutal injury to his leg.
The New York Giants just suffered an extremely devastating injury while facing the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8. Rookie running back Cam Skattebo was carted off the field after a gruesome injury in the second quarter.
Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Skattebo suffered a dislocated ankle and will undergo further evaluation.
Giants RB Cam Skattebo carted off vs the Eagles
Midway through the second quarter, Skattebo suffered a brutal injury that I do not encourage rewatching while attempting to catch a pass from quarterback Jaxson Dart. The players on the field, including Dart, were visibly distraught after realizing the severity of the injury. While it’s unclear how long Skattebo will be out, it’s easy to assume the damage to his leg is enough to keep him out for an extended period.
The timing of the injury couldn’t have been worse. Skattebo was off to an incredible start in the game; he had four touches for 30 yards and a touchdown. It appeared he would be an impactful driving force for the Giants today.
This season, Skattebo was playing at an Offensive Rookie of the Year level. Through seven games, he accumulated 398 rushing yards and six total touchdowns with 23 catches and 189 receiving yards. They’ll now turn back to Tyrone Tracy as the lead running back with Devin Singletary in the mix.
Hopefully, Skattebo has a successful and speedy recovery, as his energy was visibly affecting the team’s direction and will be important to the franchise’s future.
