The New York Giants made plenty of offensive upgrades during this past offseason. They added Darren Waller at tight end and Jalin Hyatt/Parris Campbell at wideout. Another wide receiver could have been an addition for Daniel Jones, but the team seemingly wasn't interested in him.

That wide receiver? Veteran DeAndre Hopkins.

According to Hopkins, the Giants were one of the teams that he reached out to while a free agent, but he didn't get a call back from them.

This report comes from Hopkins' interview with GQ Magazine. Check out their full feature with Hopkins here.

Hopkins clearly had some interest in playing for Brian Daboll in New York. The Giants may not have had the cap space necessary to a move like that, though. They may have known that on the front end.

Accordingly, they probably felt comfortable with their other upgrades. That being said, Hopkins would have been a solid addition for the offense that lacks a true, proven WR1 right now. Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard have shown intriguing upside in the past, but it has been consistent.

Regardless, it is interesting that the Giants did not reach back out to Hopkins while he was available.
