Don "Wink" Martindale does not deserve to be on the Giants' hot seat

As head coach Brian Daboll recently stated, "Our biggest argument is who gets the last piece of pizza," reiterating that Defensive Coordinator Don Martindale is not on the cusp of getting fired. Yet, there are reports everywhere from inside the building that there could be a change at defensive coordinator for the New York Giants.

Martindale is the best coordinator that the Giants have had since Steve Spagnuolo, plain and simple. Does it not scare anyone how offensive coordinator, Mike Kafka's name has not been thrown in the ring for a hot-seat argument in recent news?

Here's a little statistic to help argue Martindales' case:  The Giants defense has more than 19 turnovers this season, but, the Giants offense only has 17 touchdowns this season – seven of which have come via Tommy DeVito.

Anyways, Martindale has done nothing wrong with this defense, it is a lot of new guys playing in this system and some are having career years such as Bobby Okereke and Kayvon Thibodeaux.

The Giants have 21 sacks, 19 turnovers, two defensive pick-sixes, and 13 forced fumbles. But somehow the 4-8 record is all on Martindale. This franchise needs to stop getting rid of the right guys because they think they are ruining the wrong guys. Martindale deserves to be on this team for years to come.

On the other hand, Mike Kafka needs to leave. The Giants need to hire an offensive coordinator who works just like Daboll, someone who can take this mindset and put it to paper. Daboll was a fascinating offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, and his offensive excellence has not been shown in recent games.

The Giants are going to be coming off of a rough season in a couple of months, and it will be interesting to see who is representing Big Blue next season. But, if you ask me, Martindale and Daboll need to remain in the picture.
