The New York Giants expect growth from their offense in 2023. At every level, they have a blend of youth and upside when it comes to talent. On the offensive line, Andrew Thomas emerged as a cornerstone offensive tackle on one side last season. Evan Neal was a first-round pick for the team a year ago, so they want him to develop into the same caliber of player as well.
Last season was an inconsistent campaign for the rookie, but he started to show glimpses of improvement in the latter part of the season for New York. Going forward he's an important piece for the Giants, and ESPN believes that Neal is their X-Factor for this season.
X factor for 2023: RT Evan Neal. His rookie season was one to forget, ranking 58th and 54th (out of 64) in pass block win rate and run block win rate, respectively per ESPN Analytics and NFL Next Gen Stats. With an excellent LT in Andrew Thomas on the other side, if Neal can play well and give the Giants two strong tackles, that would go a long way in supporting quarterback Daniel Jones. — Walder
It's a good shout from ESPN. Daniel Jones needs more consistency from his OL this year, and Neal can create a great OT duo with Andrew Thomas. Thomas has made major strides in his two years in the league, so can Neal prove to do that next for New York? We will find out in due time.
