The New York Giants were about as far away from Super Bowl LX — both literally and figuratively — as any team in the NFL can get.

New York’s playoff hopes were essentially gone by Halloween when the team was 2-6.

Those kinds of seasons can get coaches fired, and that’s exactly what happened to Brian Daboll in early November.

The Giants struck gold by landing former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh to replace Daboll. The hope is that Harbaugh can quickly turn the Giants into an annual contender, as he did for so many years in Baltimore, but as ESPN reminded fans on Sunday after Super Bowl LX, it means making some significant roster changes.

ESPN reminds Giants fans that John Harbaugh is going to rework the roster

Shortly after the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, ESPN released its early 2026 NFL power rankings.

ESPN, which currently has the Giants at No. 25, reminded fans that New York’s roster is about to get “reworked”.

“The Giants have some solid players, beginning with quarterback Jaxson Dart,” wrote ESPN’s Jordan Raanan. “It’s partly why Harbaugh took the job this offseason. But this roster is about to get reworked to Harbaugh’s liking. He has already made it known that anybody who doesn’t love football will not be part of the team. Adding a fullback, becoming more physical, and building the defense from the back end will all be part of this offseason. Also, finding more playmakers for Dart and the offense.”

That’s probably bad news for players like wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, who has barely seen the field for the Giants over the last three seasons despite being a third-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft.

It could also be bad news for cornerback Deonte Banks, a first-round selection by the Giants in 2023, who hasn’t lived up to expectations in New York.

Linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux, who has praised the hire of Harbaugh, is another player who could land elsewhere this offseason.

It should be a compelling offseason for the Giants, and I’d expect to see quite a few new faces on the sideline next fall at MetLife Stadium.
