The New York Giants got some rough news on Monday morning. Saquon Barkley agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Accordingly, they had a major hole to fill on their offense. They've addressed that need, to a degree, in the hours following the Barkley news.
The Giants agreed to a three-year deal with veteran running back Devin Singletary.
Singletary ran for a career-high 898 rushing yards for the Houston Texans last year. He ran for four touchdowns and caught 30 passes last season, too.
The former third-round pick is a consistent force on the ground and takes care of the football. Singletary lost just one fumble last season for Houston.
For New York, Singletary will probably headline their RB group. It's hard to imagine that they will go after any of the bigger fish in the pond at that position during free agency.
The 2024 NFL Draft running back class is not one with top-end talent. If they grab a running back during it, they will probably do it on day three as a backup RB.
Singletary is certainly no Saquon Barkley, but he is a capable veteran running back that makes sense in Brian Daboll's offense.
