The New York Giants have had a major menu item on their plates during this offseason. The situation for veteran tight end Darren Waller looms. Will he stay with the team or choose to retire?
According to sources, he's still weighing his options. It's been a tumultuous past couple of years for Waller as he has dealt with injuries, but he has not hung it up quite yet.
Waller is still undecided on if he wants to play or retire as of now, according to Vic Tafur.
There's a possibility that Waller is diagnosing the Giants quarterback situation going forward. It is unclear how strong of a relationship he has with Daniel Jones, but that connection seemed positive during last offseason.
That being said, Waller could also be deciding heavily based on his own personal health. Who could blame him there?
The veteran tight end has missed 16 games over the course of the past two seasons. Basically, he's missed an entire season of playing time due to multiple injuries.
All in all, it is a decision that will help mold the offseason for New York. Without him, Daniel Bellinger would headline the TE group for the Giants. They could also look to address that spot further in free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft.
