FWe are just one game into the 2023 NFL preseason, and it already looks like the New York Giants nailed its first-round draft selection. That's because rookie cornerback Deonte Banks put on a show against the Detroit Lions.

Drafted at No. 24 overall, Banks entered the league with some high expectations as he was a part of a loaded cornerbacks class. The Giants scooped him up, and Banks performed to his draft status in the preseason opener.

Banks played 22 snaps in coverage against the Lions during his first taste of NFL action. There, the Lions threw the ball his way three times, failing to complete a single pass.

The rookie defensive back posted a 39.6 passer rating allowed when the ball was thrown at him. Additionally, Banks was stride for stride with speedy Lions receiver Jameson Williams, a first-round selection the year prior.

It's difficult to put too much stock into preseason games, but Banks has already showcased why the Giants invested premium draft capital into him. If Friday is sign of things to come, then Brian Daboll and staff have to obviously be thrilled for the future.
