The New York Giants won't be making the playoffs this season. As that truth unfolds, another potential piece to the puzzle becomes uncovered for the G-Men. They may be able to secure the first pick in the upcoming draft.
Top pick chances
According to ESPN Analytics, the Giants have a 44.9% chance to get the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after Week 15's Sunday action.
If New York does hold the top pick, it would be difficult to see them using it on anything other than the quarterback of their choosing. Shedder Sanders and Cam Ward have emerged as the top two QB options in the class, according to many scouts.
Giants rookie WR Malik Nabers went viral last week for a video of himself playing catch with Sanders.
The Giants' biggest competition for the top pick is the Las Vegas Raiders. They play tonight on Monday Night Football and currently sit at 2-11. New York is 2-12 after their Week 15 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
The other New York football team ended their chances at landing the first pick, effectively, with a victory this past week, too.
The race for the No. 1 spot continues to thin out. The New York Jets’ win over the Jacksonville Jaguars effectively eliminates the Jets from the No. 1 race. After having the fourth-best odds for the No. 1 pick last week, the Jetsat 4-10 now have less than 1 percent odds of finishing with the top pick.
The Giants' potential landing spot at one looks even more likely with the loss of Tommy DeVito. They were already down to their third QB option, behind Daniel Jones and Drew Lock.
Now, Tim Boyle may start for the rest of the season for the Giants. Expect them to add another veteran depth option this week, too.
