Giants fear worst-case scenario for star Malik Nabers following injury vs. Chargers
The New York Giants receive a devastating update for star wide receiver Malik Nabers’ injury against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The New York Giants’ offense appears to be in serious trouble. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Giants believe star wide receiver Malik Nabers may have torn his ACL in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Malik Nabers feared to have torn ACL
The Giants’ offense started to show some signs of life and new momentum that it lacked with rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart in the game. That was until their best receiver, Nabers, clutched his knee after trying to adjust to make a catch in tight coverage along the sideline in the second quarter.
The moment Nabers began to writhe in pain on the ground, it was apparent that something was extremely wrong. He was carted off the field shortly after, with Rapoport’s update coming at the end of halftime.
Nabers was off to a hot start to the 2025 season and was the Giants’ most important offensive weapon. After a 167-yard performance against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, Nabers had amassed 251 yards on 16 receptions with two touchdowns.
Dart was targeting Nabers early and often against the Chargers. He had two catches for 20 yards before he went down with the injury. At the start of the game, New York’s offense looked vibrant with Dart running the ship.
For two quarters, it felt like a young trio was building towards becoming a dangerous threat with impactful runs by rookie running back Cam Skattebo and the connection between Dart and Nabers. Now, the Giants will need significant contributions from Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton. The injury will also likely require Jalin Hyatt to step up into a bigger role if the Giants’ offense doesn’t want to crater completely.
In a year with low expectations, the team continues to be given significant hurdles to overcome. Hopefully, Nabers has a speedy recovery, so he can return to his promising rookie-season form.
