The New York Giants surprised a lot of the NFL world when they did not fire head coach Brian Daboll or general manager Joe Schoen. That didn't mean changes weren't coming, though.
On Wednesday, they made two notable moves along their defensive coaching staff.
Giants fire two assistants
According to reports, the Giants have fired defensive pass game coordinator/defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson and safeties coach Michael Treier. Both Treier and Henderson had spent the last five years with New York.
Henderson has also been an assistant in the pros for the Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, and New York Jets. Treier held multiple roles throughout his time with the team and was elevated to safeties coach two seasons ago.
Now, they'll look for replacements to those roles on staff. With pressure mounting and nowhere else to turn, Schoen and Daboll must make tough decisions to help ensure they return after next season as well.
