The New York Giants have not found too much success in round one of the draft in recent years. 2019 was an example of that, too, albeit in a much different manner. They selected cornerback DeAndre Baker in that draft, and he was only with the team for one season.

Baker is getting another shot to make an NFL roster in 2024.

UFL Analyst on X/Twitter was the first to report on the workout.

The Giants drafted Baker with the 30th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Baker spent just one season with New York before being released in September of 2020 due to his arrest. It was an extremely disappointing tenure for the first-rounder.

Baker was an All-American at Georgia during his college career. He was projected by many to go in the first two rounds of the draft, so his selection was not surprising at the time.

His arrest was for aggravated assault and armed robbery, but the charges were dropped once it came to light that the defensive back was being extorted by the lawyer representing those accusing him. Overall, it was a messy situation in which costed him his first opportunity in the NFL.

Baker spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs following that tumultuous year. He suffered a broken femur, though, ending his stint with KC. His most recent football play was with the D.C. Defenders of the UFL.

He was impressive with that team. Baker became an All-League selection at cornerback. He totaled 22 tackles and three pass breakups. Now, he gets another chance to prove his talent at the NFL level.
