Giants: Top free agent fits major need for New York
The Giants could use him.
The New York Giants make a lot of sense for one of the top free agents left on the market.
NFL.com provided a list of top free agents for this cycle and have updated as moves have been made. A handful of legit impact players remain, and one of them would be a fit for New York.
The Giants need more talent in the cornerback room, and Rock Ya-Sin would provide that on the depth chart.
A physical corner who excels at press man coverage, Ya-Sin profiles as a solid enough starter who has never quite reached his top potential. I like those kinds of signings in free agency, because the floor is high and the ceiling is higher.
Ya-Sin makes sense for New York's scheme and cornerback is a massive need for them.
A'doree Jackson has made improvements, but there's little proven talent behind him. Darnay Holmes has showed flashes of good play, but he is limited.
Cor'Dale Flott is a young player that has seen injuries over the past few years. Aaron Robison has not developed into the CB that the Giants hoped that he would.
Overall, the unit lacks experience and upside. Ya-Sin provides both as a former starter for the Raiders and Colts.
He doesn't fix all of their secondary issues, but additional moves can be made to help with that. Ya-Sin would be a solid start for the Giants.
