The New York Giants will have a plethora of options early in this year's NFL Draft. Their needs are clear, and there will e talent available. Luckily, in a recent mock draft by ESPN's Jordan Reid, one very impressive defensive prospect fell to them in the second round.

Mississippi State cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr. was the selection for the Giants at pick 57.

The Giants had just six interceptions last season, tied for the worst total in the league. With 14 career interceptions — including an SEC-record six pick-sixes — Forbes is the exact type of defender the Giants' secondary lacks. A predominantly Cover 1 scheme corner, Forbes has the speed and quickness to translate in Wink Martindale's aggressive defense.

Forbes is exactly what is needed in the secondary for New York.

He's the definition of a ballhawk. His addition would also elevate the ceiling of those around him like Xavier McKinney and A'doree Jackson

Plus, Mississippi State played a very aggressive style of defense during his time in Starkville.

The transition to the Giants defense would make plenty of sense for a player that dominated the Sec during his college days.

Forbes is in many first rounds of mock drafts right now. He's going as early as the top 20. In this scenario, he slides a bit, and the Giants take full advantage.

It would be an ideal second-round pick for New York.
