After completing his second NFL Draft as the general manager of the New York Giants, Joe Schoen joined Good Morning Football to discuss star running back Saquon Barkley. His contract has been a popular topic of discussion during this off-season.

Schoen says that the Giants talked to the RB's representatives last week. They discussed the position that both sides are in at the moment when it comes to Barkley's franchise tag and a long-term extension. The GM notes that talks were put on pause during the draft, but they will continue within the next couple of days.

Schoen explained how valuable of a player and teammate Barkley is for the Giants. He knows that both sides want a deal that provides stability and upside.

It sounds like the situation is moving in a positive direction, but more details are sure to emerge over the coming weeks for Barkley and the Giants.
