The New York Giants opened a lot of eyes a season ago. Rookie head coach Brian Daboll was impressive. He led the team to a playoff victory where they were a clear underdog. The team, while not the most talented, rallied behind Daboll and his staff.
Accordingly, he is getting plenty of hype heading into his second season as an NFL head coach. Ross Tucker, on his podcast, broke down his head coach rankings for the entire league. Daboll sits in the 8th spot after his impressive campaign last season.
The ranking is extremely notable due to the coaches around Daboll. Names like Mike Tomlin, Sean McVay, and Sean Payton are all within five spots of the Giants HC. All of those coaches have at least one Super Bowl win.
Not to mention, he's ahead of coaches like Sean McDermott of the Buffalo Bills and Mike Vrabel of the Tennessee Titans. Daboll coached under McDermott before getting the job in New York. Vrabel is arguably the most consistent HC in the league, considering the talent he has had in Nashville over the past few seasons.
Daboll is also ranked ahead of Pete Carroll, John Harbaugh, and Doug Pederson. Those three are all proven, veteran coaches who have a track history of winning.
Clearly, Tucker believes in Daboll. It will be interesting to see if he can continue to instill confidence in media and fans everywhere. He's off to a great start for the Giants.
