The New York Giants have now hit a grand slam as we sit here after night two of the NFL Draft, with Deonte Banks, John Michael Schmitz and now Jalin Hyatt all selected in the first three rounds.

Hoiw do you know New York has done so well? Oh, how about the fact that many mock drafts (including my own) had them selecting some combination of the three all at pick 25.

Three players that no one would have batted an eye at, should they have gone in round one, it's safe to say the Giants have played their board perefctky thus far.

Here is my full report on Jalin Hyatt:

One Liner:

An incredible speed demon that lacks a well rounded game and NFL physique

Evaluation:

  • Easy easy gas
  • Steps on the pedal and hits zero to 60 in an isnant with crazy acceleration and special deep speed
  • Think his suddenness is better than you think
  • Displays an ability to learn and become a better route runner
  • High cut with spindly limbs
  • Seldom faces press and has soo many free releases and Wr friendly alignments
  • Purely vertical, few out routes, posts, or in-breakers

Summary:

Hyatt is far from a perfect receiver but his pure acceleration and long speed are the best in the class. If he can get in an NFL weight room and learn a more diverse route tree,

Grade:

6.39

Comp:

Mike Wallace

Hyatt has special deep speed, as seen in the above clip and backed up by his NFL Combine performance where he recorded a 4.4 forty-yard dash while slipping and self-admittedly having a bad start.

The fit is perfect because New York now has created a basketball team when it comes to their pass catchers. They have the slot specialists in Parris Campbell and Wan'Dale Robinson, their big bodies in Darren Waller and Darius Slayton, and now, their deep threat in Hyatt.

OInce things get smoothed over with Barkley, a few late pickups at guard and a bet that one of them hits, and all of a sudden, an offense that was devoid of any explosion last season, potentially becomes one of the best in the league.
