New York Giants' Malik Nabers sends anything but modest message ahead of return from concussion

When you're a WR1 playing in the National Football League, you shouldn't quite care about modesty. That's the way it's supposed to be. New York Giants' first-round rookie Malik Nabers doesn't seem to disagree.
Nabers, who just got taken off the injury report and is good to go on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, recently talked about his return to the field this weekend and showed his signature confidence in making an impact on the offense just by being out there.
"Just to get that player back out there, I'm a focal point when I'm out there," Nabers told reporters. "The defense makes different calls when I'm out there. So, not having me, it made it a little bit harder for those guys. So, just having me out there, just the presence that I'm out there, knowing the defense knows I can make plays, it helps other guys make plays also."
Despite having only a handful of NFL games under his belt, Nabers is exactly right. His presence alone should help Daniel Jones get the ball to his receivers. Last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, Jones passed for only 205 yards as his offense ranked 25th in dropback EPA/play for the week.
The timing couldn't be any better as Nabers will face a vulnerable Eagles secondary that will provide some golden opportunities.
"They have some great corners," Nabers added on Friday. "(Cornerback Darius) Slay is out there. (Quinyon) Mitchell is out there. I know about him from Toledo. He's a great player. They've got some great guys out there."
Nabers, who received a barrage of questions about his attendance to a concert shortly after suffering a concussion in Week 4, is probably chomping at the bit getting ready to leave all the off-field drama behind him and replace it with some play-making.
"Just play ball, really," said Nabers of his expectations ahead of the divisional clash. "A game is a game. I know everybody says it's a big game, but every game is a big game to me. It's a good opportunity for me."
