The New York Giants are frustrated with the 2024 season. To make matters worse, tough injuries continue to mount. Dexter Lawrence and Theo Johnson both may be out for the season after suffering injuries in Week 13.
Even Malik Nabers, a rookie wide receiver, is addressing some personal struggles that have shown up at times this year.
Nabers gets real
The rookie wideout is not shying away from some drops here and there this season. Against the Cowboys, Nabers totaled eight receptions for 69 yards. He also dropped a couple of catchable passes from QB Drew Lock as well.
“I don’t care about drops. I mean, it’s just part of football. I don’t care if I drop the ball six times. Keep throwing me the ball.” — Nabers
Nabers also noted that he was happy to get involved in the offense earlier than in Week 12. After that loss, he was frustrated by his lack of targets until the game was already decided.
Against Dallas, Nabers made one of his best catches of the season as well.
For Nabers, it is nice to see this sort of confidence from a young player. It would be easy for him to get down on himself due to some drops recently, but he hasn't. He knows his talent and understands that they are a part of football.
It's been a busy couple of weeks for the rookie wideout when it comes to strong statements to the media. Clearly, Nabers understands the growing pressure for the staff and front office in New York, too.
